Shuttlewood Clarke Foundation – Talks
Find out more about the work and history of the Foundation and its founder, David Clarke.
It’s a very interesting story that beings in the 1870s with a man from Anstey who employed 25 hands manufacturing shoes. We meet a racing driver, a film maker, marvel at Italian cars and learn about links with a heritage railway and a prestige car dealership.
The Foundation was established in 1990, in memory of David’s mother, Ivy Shuttlewood. David’s vision was simple, to provide a luxury restful day in the country for people who were housebound, socially isolated or had a disability. The Foundation quickly grew with the purchase of a second property and expansion of the services available.
In 2024, we are proud to continue David’s vision. Our Ulverscroft Grange site offers visitors a retail experience with three wonderful charity shops, refreshments at a tearoom with delightful views of the Charnwood Forest and walks in pretty grounds. At our Ulverscroft Manor site we provide a wealth of support services including well-being classes, support groups and a range of activities to stimulate the mind and body.
We welcome the opportunity to deliver a talk to groups or clubs.
